Anatomical Gelb/MORA
The Gelb splint was the first design related to the treatment of the TMJ. The Gelb splint is a mandibular splint with acrylic coverage over the posterior teeth and acts to increase vertical dimension. The splint is used to reposition the mandible and can also be used to recapture the disc. This appliance is usually fabricated to a wax bite that brings the condyle into a more anterior, inferior position in the fossa and increases the vertical opening.

Treatment & Care
Patients should wear at night and clean daily with toothpaste to prevent the buildup of plaque and odor. Avoid Efferdent and other effervescent solutions, as it may erode components on the appliance. It is recommended to use products like DentaSoak or Retainer Splash.
